Jennifer Aniston has recently been wearing dark-rimmed glasses--namely in recent photos to promote her next film “Cake” in West Hollywood. One report is claiming that she’s wearing the glasses in a bizarre attempt to win an Academy Award next year.

OK! Magazine claims she wants to get an Oscar for her role in “Cake.” One source told the publication: “She’s truly on the campaign trail now, which is why she’s been buttoning up, choosing demure outfits and even wearing glasses.”

The report then goes on to allege that Aniston is trying to get the nomination and award to show up ex Brad Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie, who won an Oscar for “Girl, Interrupted.” The source said that she’s “hungry” to prove that she’s a serious actress to the two.

However, GossipCop reported that the allegation is false, citing another source as saying that the OK! report is “lame.”

The allegations published in OK! also seem far-fetched because Aniston has worn glasses for years (like here in 2012 or here in 2011).

In 2011, she wore the same type of glasses, as seen below:

For the role in “Cake,” she said she had to gain some weight and not use makeup.

“I basically just didn’t work out for two-and-a-half months. I stopped working out and I stopped being as careful about my diet as I normally am. I was still healthy, but I'd allow more,” she was quoted as saying by MailOnline.com this week.

As PageSix notes, Aniston’s character is “an angry, pill-popping boozer who wears no makeup and has flat hair.”

The site then claims the 45-year-old, who has mostly starred in romantic-comedies, is “is already being touted as a contender for a Best Actress Oscar.”
