Resident of Jamestown, Colorado were ordered to evacuate as flash flooding worsened, but many are stuck because roads are washed out.

“They issued an evacuation order, but nobody can get out of town,” Jeff Stampes, who lives in the Bar-K Ranch subdivision about five miles west of Jamestown, told the Denver Post

The flooding in the town turned deadly when a house collapsed, killing one person and leaving another missing. Other homes have collapsed in the city.

About 50 families are inside Jamestown Elementary School.

Deb D'Andrea, 39, who owns two acres in Nederland, has offered to allow anyone in Jamestown to put horses or pets on her property, according to the Post.

Residents in the town and nearby are communicating on an online forum, offering to help each other.

“We have room for anyone needing shelter and assistance once the roads open up again,” said Susan and Ben Foster. “Thinking of you all and your beautiful community! 303-442-6333 [email protected].”
