Iran hanged a man it alleged worked for the Israeli secret service Mossad, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported on Tuesday.

Iranian national, Ali-Akbar Siadat, was arrested in 2008 when he tried to flee Iran with his wife, according to the report.

Siadat allegedly had secret information with him when he was arrested. Citing a report from the prosecutor’s office, IRNA said the man “had established relations with the espionage agency of the racist Zionist regime,” which earned him the death penalty.

Iran considers Israel an enemy, refusing to recognize Israel as a state. The Iranian regime periodically publishes the arrests of people it says are spies for Israel, according to Reuters.
