Whether he did it accidentally, on purpose, or (most likely) something in between, when Hunter Biden left a laptop loaded with incriminating evidence about himself and his family at a computer repair shop in Delaware, he was trying to tell us something.

That something was that his father, aka the “big guy,” who had only days before announced he was running for president, was big trouble.

You don’t have to be Sigmund Freud to figure that out. Nor is it hard to figure out why Hunter might have become an addict and engaged in other self-destructive acts not suitable for a family website but apparently immortalized on the hard drive.

The Joe Biden that is being sold to us ad infinitum as Mr. Just-Plain-Folks-American wasn’t the man his son saw. (This isn’t to absolve Hunter of responsibility for his actions, but to put them in perspective.)

Note that one of the first of the emails published, and therefore (purposefully?) easy to find, from Hunter to his daughter Naomi, reads:

“But I don’t receive any respect and that’s fine I guess. Works for you, apparently. I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years. It’s really hard, but don’t worry, unlike Pop I won’t make you give me half your salary.”

We also saw email of a prospective billion dollar deal with Chinese businessmen whose profit percentages would be divided with “10 held by H for the big guy?”

Hunter was to be Joe’s bag man. He probably was, more often than we know, jetting around with his father on Air Force Two. The numbers from all these deals—Moscow, China, Kazakhstan, etc.—are staggering. More are coming soon. Just recently we learn of Hunter’s (and no doubt Joe’s by extension) activities in Romania.

Bag man, indeed, but evidently it wasn’t easy being Joe Biden’s son.

This accusation of Mafia-like behavior must have been difficult, actually extraordinarily difficult, for Hunter to make, even to himself, (cf. Shakespeare and Sophocles), so, in what one can assume was a highly-altered state, in an act of what we might call “justifiable patricide,” he dropped off the laptop and walked away from the store, leaving behind this mountain of evidence, pretending in some ways it had never happened, possibly forgetting—or blocking—he was ever there. (Who knows?)

As Leo Tolstoy famously put it, “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”

It’s a sad state of affairs, sad for La Famiglia Biden and sad for the United States, but forgetting the laptop wasn’t entirely a drug-induced accident. It was more, as we say, accidentally on purpose. It was a cry for help.

But it took well over a year for Hunter’s cries of help to be heard.

He no doubt assumed the mainstream media would cover up for his father—they always do—but how could he have known that FBI Director Christopher Wray would hide from the public’s eyes a hard drive filled with information about the Bidens’ affairs in Ukraine while that very thing was the center of the impeachment trial? (We can only hope Attorney General William Barr knew nothing of this. If that’s correct, he should be furious with Wray by now. If not ...)

But here we are, two weeks from an election with more information coming out almost daily. My assumption is that this scandal ends up revealing an astonishing web of corruption, especially regarding China where, when you do business, you are ultimately doing business with the CCP. To succeed, even have a career, as an executive there you almost always have to belong to the party.

The national security implications are clear because the Chinese communists probably know more of what went on than we do. They have been on to this game for some time. Indeed, they undoubtedly pushed it along, giving Joe Biden subtle and not-so-subtle incentives, the same way they have many others. Who knows what they have on him?

The problem is, of course, that Biden may well still win the election. He won’t be China’s dog immediately, not completely anyway. It would be too obvious. But, as is well known, they’re patient. They can wait. And then at the propitious moment—who knows when; maybe in the second Harris administration—they will call in the cards.

America, as we know it, is gone.

If we had only heard Hunter’s cry earlier.

ADDENDUM: That some people are still calling these emails fake is a deliberate obfuscation destructive to all of us. They are making fools of themselves for cheap political purposes, but I would call out in particular Rep. Adam Schiff, whom Glenn Greenwald named as the “biggest pathological liar in politics” on Tucker Carlson the other night, and Wikipedia, which, at least for now, is calling the emails “debunked.” When you see that word, you know they’re lying. Wikipedia, supposedly an encyclopedia, is debunking itself.
