Bathers on a beach near the Russian port city, Kaliningrad, were surprised to see a huge military hovercraft pull up Tuesday. It was a Zubr (Bison) vessel and the defense ministry was engaging in maneuvers near the government-owned beach, reports the Irish Times. The Zubr is about 550 tons, reports the Times.

A defense minister spokesman said “Docking at the beach … is a normal event,” according to Sky News, which cites local newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda. “What people were doing at the beach on the territory of a military [base] is unclear,” he said.
