How to Make: A Healthier Pumpkin Spice Latte

Fall doesn’t officially start without cafes launching their pumpkin spice lattes. But you don’t have to get on line to get a cup of this warm dessert-like coffee. You can easily make a cup yourself, and make it healthier.

HOMEMADE PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE

INGREDIENTS - 
1 cup strong brewed coffee
1/2 cup milk of choice
2 TBS pumpkin purée
2 TBS maple syrup (or more to taste)
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp nutmeg
A dash Chinese 5-spice powder
A pinch black pepper

1. Cook the pumpkin and spices for about 2 minutes. Add in the maple syrup. Stir for a few minutes.

2. Whisk in the milk and vanilla extract over medium heat, watching carefully to make sure it doesn’t boil over.

3. Process the milk with an immersion blender, or regular blender. Add the mix to the drink.
