The Hong Kong men’s and women’s teams to take part in next week’s Asia Rugby Sevens Qualifier competition were announced today, Sunday Nov 1, 2015.

Men’s team: Max Woodward (Captain), James Hood, Michael Coverdale, Keith Robertson, Tsag Hing Hung, Cado Lee Ka To, Christopher Maize, Alexander McQueen, Thomas McQueen, Rowan Varty, Mark Wright, Salom Yiu Kam Shing and Jack Capon. The team manager is Martin Kibble and head coach is Gareth Barber.

Women’s team: Christy Cheng Ka Chi (Captain), Natasha Shangwe Olson-Thorne (VC), Candy Cheng Tsz Ting, Chong Ka Yan, Ivy Kwong Sau Yan, Lai Pou Fan, Nam Ka Man, Stephanie Cuvelier, Aggie Poon Pak Yan, Amelie Odile Marle Seure, Sham Wai Sum, and Lindsay Varty. Team manager is Dannli Cheung and head coach is Anna Richards.

In the men’s competition, the winner of the ten team Asia Rugby Sevens Qualifier—Hong Kong, will receive Asia’s automatic spot for their National Olympic Committee to participate in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The teams finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Asia Qualifier in Hong Kong will be invited to play in the World Rugby Olympic Qualification Reperchage tournament, to take place in June 2016.

The winner (by accumulated competition points) of women’s Asia Rugby Women’s Sevens Qualifier to be played over 2-legs (Hong Kong and Japan) will receive Asia’s automatic spot for their National Olympic Committee to participate in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The teams finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Asia Qualifier series will be invited to play in the World Rugby Olympic Qualification Reperchage tournament, to take place in June 2016.
