One team of Hong Kong students participated in the 63rd International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and another in the 52nd International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in July, winning several medals, and one honorable mention.

Due to the pandemic, the Hong Kong team participated online in the IMO 2022 hosted by Norway, from July 6 to 16. Among the 589 students from 104 countries and regions participating, the Hong Kong team won one gold, three silver, one bronze medals, and one honorable mention.

At the IPhO hosted by Switzerland from 10 to 17 July, Hong Kong students were among the 366 students from 76 countries and territories who participated. The team won four silver and one bronze medals.

The Hong Kong team members of IPO 2022 and IPhO 2022 did well in the Hong Kong regional selection competition and went on to take enrichment program courses arranged by the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education. Students who performed well in the courses were selected as Hong Kong representatives to compete in the two competitions.
