The Cathay Pacific Sun Hung Kai Financial Hong Kong Squash Open Semi-finals were played at the Hong Kong Sports Centre on Saturday Dec 5, 2015.

The Women’s line up for the semi-finals was Raneem El Weilily of Egypt (No 1 seed) against Laura Massaro (3) of England; and Omneya Abdel Kawy of Egypt (5) against Nicol David (2).

Both Laura Massaro and Nicol David look in superb form, Massaro is performing better than I have seen from her in recent years in Hong Kong while Nicol David looks right back in top shape both physical and mentally. After dropping off the No1 spot she seems to be back to her devastating best.

Men
In the men’s semi-finals, No 1 seed Elshorbagy of Egypt won in convincing style against the strong opposition of fellow countryman Omar Mosaad seeded 6, 11-4, 11-6 11-9.

Cameron Pilley of Australia looking confident and playing superb squash continued his tournament performance in the competition by ousting No 2 seed Nick Matthew of England. Pilley’s play was outstanding in a 59minute display of power making many cross court nick winners and stretching his opponent with firm drives across and to the back of the court. He won in 3 straight hard fought games 11-9, 13-11, 12-10.

Finals
The finals are today Sunday Dec 6, 2015, with Laura Massaro taking on Nicol David in the women’s final, both of whom look in great form, while top seed Elshorbagy will play Australian Cameron Pilley.
