Honduras lost city: ‘I’m the only person right now on the planet that knows that there’s these ruins,’ thought Bill Carter, a University of Houston engineer, when he saw straight lines and right angles on the 3D digital map.

Carter was given imagery from the National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping from Honduras. Researchers flew over the Mosquitia region of Honduras in a small plane shooting laser pulses at the ground to create a 3D digital map of the ground beneath the jungle canopy.

They believe they have found an ancient city with pyramids.

Laser mapping was used for one of the first times during the expeditions, according to the Daily Mail.

The ‘White City’ is a legend from Spanish explorers who thought the rain forests in the region were full of cities that were full of gold.

Archaeologists involved in the project are planning to go into the forest to check out the city later this year.
