Things can turn drastically horrible when pedestrians are accidentally hit by motorists in China.
In 2011, a disturbing viral video emerged from Foshan, Guangdong, of a 2-year-old girl nicknamed Yue Yue being run over by two vehicles. Neither the drivers nor the 18 pedestrians and cyclists who passed by stopped to help.
Although Yue Yue was eventually rescued by a road sweeper, she still succumbed to her injuries.
Even more horrifying, some motorists in China would rather kill the pedestrian than injure him or her when involved in a road accident. To make sure the victim is dead, the driver will intentionally run over the pedestrian multiple times.
President of the Board Geoffrey Sant and Inspiration Award honoree Ursula Liang
According to Sant, in recent years, CCTV cameras across China have regularly captured drivers who had just accidentally knocked down a pedestrian intentionally reverse to kill the injured person.
Slate recounted an incident that happened in April 2015, also in Foshan, Guangdong, where a 2-year-old girl was hit by a BMW that came hurtling through a fruit market.
The girl’s grandmother yelled: “Stop! You’ve hit a child!”
The unlicensed driver of the BMW stopped for a moment before shifting to reverse gear to smash the girl to death, not once, but thrice.
Without remorse nor an ounce of guilt, the female driver got out of the car and said: “Don’t say that I was driving the car. Say it was my husband. We can give you money.”
When the case was brought to court, the woman asserted it was an accident—she was only sentenced to two to four years in prison.
And in 2008, CCTV footage showed a white Volkswagen Passat propelling backward at high speed to crush a 64-year-old grandmother. The driver, Zhao Xiao Cheng, repeatedly drove back and forth over the elderly lady, which threw her up onto the pavement, where she was rolled over at least five times.
Zhao was clearly out to kill the grandmother whom he had just hit. Beyond expectation, he was not found guilty of intentional homicide.
Giving credence to Zhao’s claim that he mistook the grandmother as a trash bag, the court of Taizhou in Zhejiang Province sentenced him to just three years in prison. To compensate for his “negligence,” he only paid about US$70,000 to the grandmother’s family.
This is shocking!! When drivers in China hit a pedestrian, they intentionally run over them over and over again to kill…
Sadly, such immoral deeds are so common that the Chinese even have an adage for it—“It is better to hit to kill than to hit and injure.”
So, why is this happening?
Apparently, drivers intentionally kill the pedestrians they hit for fear of paying high compensation payments, because Chinese law makes it more economical to kill a person than to injure the person.
According to China’s legal system, the accused will have to pay a one-off compensation of around US$30,000–$50,000 for killing someone in a road accident.
Whereas in cases that involve serious injury, the accused will be held liable for a lifetime of payments. The driver will have to pay for the lifelong care of the disabled survivor, which can be in excess of a million dollars.
While driving a vehicle, if the driver injures a pedestrian by mistake, he would reverse the car and make sure the…
Furthermore, the driver can escape murder charges just by bribing the local officials or hiring a lawyer.
“It’s a really sad scenario. And, I do want to be clear that this isn’t something that happens every time there’s an accident. But, it is true that drivers that hit a pedestrian will actually come back and hit them a second time, or even a third time, to make sure they’re dead,” Sant told As it Happens host Carol Off.
What about the indifference shown by the many passersby in the infamous little Yue Yue case?
According to an article published by The Epoch Times, in China, there is a phenomenon where scammers orchestrate fake road injuries, or purposely fall over a car in an attempt to claim compensation from unwitting drivers.
Moreover, they target passersby too. After “falling over,” a good Samaritan may want to lend a helping hand, then the scammer ends up suing the passerby, which was all part of the scheme.
This has led to the sad phenomenon where pedestrians are now reluctant to help out of fear of being sued.
Then again, there are many apathetic people who simply don’t care.
Compassion is part of what makes us human. It’s hard to believe someone would give up one’s conscience to kill a person simply because it’s cheaper and that people now refuse to help a fallen person to protect themselves from scammers.
Perhaps this is the terrible consequence of a corrupted society with declining morals?
So, why has the Chinese nation lost its humanity?

To find the answer behind China’s moral crisis, let’s delve into history.
China, with its 5,000 years of civilization, was once referred to as The Divine Land, or “Shen Zhou.” According to the ancient Chinese, their rich culture, including music, medicine, calligraphy, and attire, were passed down from the heavens.
For thousands of years, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism had been the complementary beliefs in Chinese society, influencing every aspect of people’s lives.

Unfortunately, since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) usurped power, it used violence to crush the nation’s traditional culture, faith, spiritual foundation, as well as ethical concepts and social structures through campaigns such as the notorious Cultural Revolution.
As stated in The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, “Throughout its 80-plus years, everything the CCP has touched has been marred with lies, wars, famine, tyranny, massacre, and terror.”
The CCP has not only caused the death of 80 million people; it has also twisted “empathy, love, and harmony among people” into “struggle and hatred.”
Communism was, by far, the most murderous ideology of the 20th century. And Mao Zedong was the worst Communist of them all.👉 http://l.prageru.com/2oYNiSx
“Veneration and appreciation of the heaven and earth have been replaced by an arrogant desire to ‘fight with heaven and earth,’” reads an excerpt from The Nine Commentaries.
“The result has been a total collapse of social, moral, and ecological systems, and a profound crisis for the Chinese people—and indeed for humanity. All these calamities have been brought about through the deliberate planning, organization, and control of the CCP.”
Just as one critic told Voice of America—alluding to the case of little Yue Yue—this is “a political, not a cultural, phenomenon. It is the result of the ruling Communist Party’s consistent suppression of righteousness, sympathy and kindness through political and legislative means.”
