Hundreds of people, including four presidential candidates, protested in Haiti on Wednesday.
The protesters believe the Nov. 28 presidential elections have been marred with fraud. "These were not elections. People were not allowed to vote and there was stuffing of the election boxes. … We need democratic elections," Haitian presidential candidate Charles Henri-Baker told the Associated Press. In total, 12 of the 19 presidential candidates have rejected the elections.
The Organization of American States (OAS) said that the elections were valid despite reports of serious irregularities. It is crucial for the future of Haiti that the elections lead to a credible government.
Many collected aid funds will not be supplied to Haiti until it has a new functioning government in place.
