A group of hackers on Sunday threatened to attack British government websites if WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, is extradited to Sweden, according to The Telegraph.

Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, is currently in jail in Britain awaiting an extradition hearing Tuesday. He is wanted in Sweden over allegations of sexual abuse.

The hackers, who call themselves “Anonymous,” have already attacked other websites that they deem to be against WikiLeaks.

The hackers attacked MasterCard’s website, Sunday. The company announced last week, along with other companies such as PayPal and Visa Europe, that they would suspend donation transactions to WikiLeaks.

“Anonymous” is a loosely organized group that consists of hackers and other Internet users around the world.

They use Twitter and Internet forums to communicate about which websites they will attack. Their method of attack is to overload the website in question with information causing it to temporarily shut down.
