General Motors is recalling 413,418 Chevrolet Cruzes for model years 2011 and 2012 in the United States to modify the engine shield under the vehicle.

“This change will help prevent any liquids from being trapped in the engine compartment, where a fire could start and spread,” GM warned in a statement. Only Cruzes built in Lordstown, Ohio, and sold in the United States, Canada, and Israel are affected.

Modifying the engine shield will take about 30 minutes in a Chevrolet dealership service department and would be conducted free of charge. Customers are encouraged to make an appointment with their dealer as soon as possible. Letters will be mailed to owners starting on July 11.

There are no known crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to the recall.

General Motors’ stake on Nasdaq fell by $0.61 or 3 percent to $19.99 on Monday.
