The New York Giants (1–0) have a tough task this Sunday as they go on the road to face another NFC East Divisional rival, the Dallas Cowboys (1–0).

The atmosphere for this game is expected to be electric, as Dallas will be playing their first ever regular season game in their new $1.15 billion dollar home—Cowboys Stadium.

Nothing would make Giants players happier than to have the record books note that Dallas’s home opener was a loss to them.

But to do that, New York’s defense must bring its ‘A’ game.

Last week, the Giants beat the Washington Redskins 23–17 at home in a game where the defense played well enough to win but took some plays off in between. This week, they won’t have that luxury as they will be facing a much more potent offense.

In week one, Romo threw for a career-high 353 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, leading a Dallas offense that racked up 462 total yards.

Against a Giants defense missing key starters Aaron Ross and Chris Canty, Romo, who is 4–1 versus New York as a starter, could give the G-Men fits.

Dallas brings one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL with Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and Tashard Choice. They also have an added weapon this season, employing a new tight-end scheme using second-year athletic man, Martellus Bennett and All-Pro Jason Witten.

Whether Romo is handing off the ball or putting it in the air, all of these players have the capability to make a big play.

Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan is well aware and knows his unit must be prepared, “You have a balance in your defensive mentality where you are going to run pressure on certain situations in an attempt to prevent the big play.”

Giants players know this game is special and with the opening of Cowboys Stadium, there is now added reason to want to defeat the ‘Boys on their home turf. Justin Tuck explained, “Obviously it’s a division game, Cowboys versus Giants, great rivalry.

“But it’s the opening of their new stadium. We do have that type of spoiler mentality, if you want to call it that.”
