The 31-year-old Mexican actor said, “Yes! We make this announcement official: We have a baby on the way," as translated from a Sept. 24 Spanish posting on his Twitter account.
The gender of the baby has not been revealed.
“It is with great and expansive happiness that we share with you all," he added. "Hugs and joy.”
Bernal and his wife Dolores Fonzi, an actress from Argentina, already have one child, 20-month-old Lazaro.
Bernal received critical acclaim for his performance in 2001's Oscar-nominated "Amores Perros," as well as in 2006‘s "Babel."
His latest movie, "A Little Bit of Heaven," in which he stars with actress Kate Hudson, is due for release sometime in 2011.
