The body of a missing hiker was found by search teams Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 2, in Grand Canyon National Park.

Sarah Beadle, 38 went missing Tuesday after hiking down the South Kaibab Trail with two children, Fox News reports. She had reservations to stay at the Phantom Ranch, a lodge inside the park, but never showed up.

While walking along the trail Sarah made a wrong turn and got lost. She later died from heat exhaustion, according to park rangers.

Her husband, Scott announced the updated news in a Facebook post.

“Sarah Beadle passed away sometime yesterday [Wednesday] afternoon,” Scott said in the post.

Sarah was hiking with Laura and her nephew Evan when Laura began to feel dizzy from the heat. Sarah then left the two children in a safe location while she ventured out by herself looking for some water and help, Scott said.

The two children were safe after another hiker found the pair and gave them some water before escorting them to a camp. The children sustained no physical injuries, according to Scott’s Facebook post.

Sarah, a mother of 5, worked as a doctor practicing emergency medicine at Baylor Emergency Medical Center in Keller. She was an experienced backpacker who had tackled the Grand Canyon before in 2002, Fox News reports.

The hospital issued a statement on Wednesday saying, “Our hearts and prayers go out to Dr. Sarah Beadle and her family, as well as the dedicated first responders who are searching diligently to locate her.”

An investigation by the National Park Service and the Coconino County medical examiner is ongoing, as authorities investigate what exactly caused the death.

Scott said his wife loved traveling with the family and they shared many wonderful experiences together. “I thank you all for your continued prayers and support,” he wrote on Facebook.
