The third most populous city in the Midwest, Indianapolis, welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts with open arms on Thursday, Feb. 10.
Tickets for the three originally scheduled performances were sold out, so an extra show was added on Friday night, Feb. 11.
“It was terrific, it was so unique, I’ve never seen anything like it before. I enjoy people who are at the very top of their game no matter what they do. So it was just wonderful to see all the wonderful coordination and the exquisite dance and all the colors and all the stories. It all worked, it all came together,” said Clyde Lee, co-owner of Lee\Willis Communications and former ABC news anchor.
Clyde Lee and his wife, Diane Willis, who is a six-time Emmy winning award journalist, saw the classical Chinese dance and music performance at Murat Theatre at Old National Centre. Mrs. Willis is also a co-owner of Lee\Willis Communications and a former anchor for ABC affiliate WRTV.
“It’s marvelous, it’s a delightful experience, it’s astounding. It leaves you feeling changed and renewed and excited and hopeful about the world,” said Mrs. Willis.
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s 5,000-year history through the arts. After seeing the performance, their takeaway message was “we are all one.”
“I see the unity of the world coming together, I see intercultural and international understanding, and I see just great vitality and spirit from all the dancers. It was inspiring,” said Mrs. Willis.
“We can have a better world, that we can unite, that we can be one people, and one positive voice, and that the time for that is now,” Mr. Lee added.
