Zayn Malik made history with his debut album, “Mind of Mine” debuting No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart—the first U.K solo artist to do so since George Michael’s “Faith” in 1987.
The March 25 released album through RCA Records sold 112,000 albums, which included chart topping lead single “Pillowtalk.”
The former One Direction singer is thankful for his fans support, whom he refers to as Zquad.
“Zquad thank you dreams coming true right now,” tweeted Malik to his nearly 19 million followers.

Malik, 23, abruptly left One Direction in March of last year after feeling stifled creatively.
“There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band,” he said in an interview with Fader. “If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as [expletive], so they could use that version.”
The heavily inked heartthrob said he was surprized by the success of his first solo album.
“I can’t believe that I have managed to achieve this as a solo artist. I am very proud coming from Bradford achieving this in my home country,” said Malik to OfficialCharts.com “It’s mind-blowing to me. I don’t take the support I have received for granted. My life at 23 could have been very different.”
“Mind of Mine”also topped the U.K. Billboard 200 charts as well.
