A fire started around 6:20 a.m. on May 16 and ripped through a strip mall in San Gabriel, California. People could see black fumes shooting into the sky from afar on the clear and sunny day.

It happened near the intersection of Valley Boulevard and New Avenue and became a 3-alarm inferno very quickly. Nearby streets were closed due to the firefight, but by 2:00 p.m., the eastbound lane of Valley Boulevard was re-opened.

Firefighters said that a total of six businesses were lost, including five restaurants and an optometrist. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the cause of the fire was still unknown.
