Five businesses and a house were damaged by a fire in Coober Pedy’s main street in Australia on Tuesday night. Early estimates peg the damage at $1 million.

Volunteer firefighters spent the night battling the fire, according to Adelaide Now. No injuries were reported, but Mayor Steve Baines said the fire was devastating.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of the people who have been affected by the fire and they are fairly distraught to say the least,” he said.

The fire crews successfully protected other buildings from the fire. The six buildings, though, were extensively damaged, according to the Asutralian Broadcasting Corporation.

Hairdresser Mandy Banks, whose business was destroyed, said she would keep working without a building because she’s the only hairdresser in town.
