WASHINGTON—The 2011 Washington D.C. Falun Dafa Experience Sharing Conference concluded with applause at DAR Constitution Hall on Saturday, July 16.
Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a spiritual practice for mind and body, founded by Mr. Li Hongzhi in China. Mr. Li attended and spoke to participants, who showed their respect with a long standing ovation. He encouraged them to be diligent in the practice.

Following a series of events, from a rally visited by multiple members of congress, to a grand march, to meditation near the White House, to a candlelight vigil, the conference is an annual tradition for practitioners of the Chinese cultivation practice. This year it drew about 4,000 participants.

Speakers of the conference shared how they elevated through practicing Falun Dafa.
Helen Hou came to the practice two years ago, suffering from a weak stomach and back problems.

For others, the benefit of the practice is spiritual. One speaker shared that the principles of Falun Dafa helped him to become a better team player at his job. Inspired by the teachings of the practice, he found out that being too competitive hurts the relationship between coworkers. He made an effort to become more kind and unselfish.
Those who attended the conference come from all walks of life, age groups, and ethnic backgrounds. Zachary, an 8-year-old boy, was the youngest speaker. "I need to become more tolerant," he said, reading from a paper he had prepared. He also described his favorite teacher, and how he had taught the teacher and his fellow students the exercises of Falun Gong, while giving a class presentation about Asian culture.
