Facebook is working on developing virtual reality apps for its platform, Oculus. The apps are reportedly centered on new ways of sharing.

Ever since Facebook bought Oculus VR for a huge sum of money, people have been expecting the social media company to unveil its plans for VR. And now a company exec has given us a tiny glimpse of where Facebook thinks the technology will go.

According to Chris Cox, Facebook Chief Product Officer, the company is currently developing some first-party apps for virtual reality environments. Touting the transformative potential of VR, Cox went on saying:

Have you used some of the film demos inside of VR? You realize, when you’re in it, that you’re looking at the future, and it’s going to be awesome. When you’re in Facebook, you’re just sending around these bits of experience — a photo, a video, a thought, [whereas VR allows you to send] a fuller picture.

When asked if users would be able to create their own virtual reality content Cox said “ Tottaly. You'll do it, Beyoncé will do it”.
