The oceans are home to many fascinating and dazzling creatures, and recently NOAA’s Okeanos Explorer team captured a mesmerizing video of one of them.

The vibrant purple sea dweller is generally known as an acorn worm, but when it showed up it took some of the crew members by surprise. One simply uttered, “That is the craziest lookin’ thing…”

Perhaps fitting of its bizarre appearance, the acorn worm was found in an area called ‘Twin Peaks.’ The footage of the creature was gathered as part of the NOAA’s Deepwater Exploration of Marianas mission.
