An earthquake hit in California today near Ferndale and Eureka around 4:54 p.m. PDT.
The 4.2 magnitude quake hit about 17 miles south-southwest of Ferndale, 21 miles southwest of Fortuna, 34 miles south-southwest of Eureka, and 28 mile south-southwest of Bayside.
It hit at a depth of 11.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Service.
The quake follows one that hit on Sunday night near Westwood and Los Angeles.
In the last 10 days, there have been two earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby, according to the LA Times.
