TAINAN, Taiwan—Divine Performing Arts (DPA) opened its fifth show at the Tainan Municipal Cultural Center on February 22. Among the audience was Chang Rongchang, Chairman of Tainan City Dance and Sports Association.

Upon watching the show, he said: “While viewing DPA I wasn’t thinking too much. My eyes were all focused on the performance. Every step excited me and the rhythms were well interwoven. Especially with the MCs’ introductions, I was very touched by the show.

“The whole performance connected very well. There were many stories conveyed through Chinese classical dance. It really moved me.”

Mr. Chang is also a dance judge, instructor and an international ballroom dancing master. He has received gold awards in numerous competitions. He is one of the Tainan representatives for decathlon and the only representative in Tainan for international ballroom dancing and World Cup for dance.

“The performers’ costumes matched harmoniously with the backdrops. The colors were coordinated well too. Every aspect of the show was professional. Because I am a dancer, I know that costumes really involve a lot of study on colors and fine arts. I think even just the costumes alone are very unique in the show.

“International ballroom dance shows are usually influenced by modern aspects. Therefore young people often like it. The twirls and leaps of Chinese classical dance are very difficult. There were many aerial movements in the show that are very gorgeous. I think in the future, it’ll be a good idea to gradually add some of these movements to ballroom dance,” he said.
