“It was very beautifully done. We're enjoying it very much. Loved the dancing, and the music is great,” said Mr Armour, a cellist, who attended Saturday’s show with his wife, violinist Ms. Lemaire.
“It's always great to experience other cultures and see different dances and different approaches to music. Very beautiful.”
Mr. Armour is principal cellist in a chamber orchestra and artistic and executive director of a chamber music society. During a career spanning 20 years, he also founded a chamber music festival and was awarded the Victor Tolgesy Arts Award.
Mr. Julian enjoyed the unique DPA orchestra, which breaks new ground by combining Chinese and Western instruments, bringing together two of the world’s greatest classical music traditions. Performances by solo musicians as well as sopranos, tenors and basses are also an integral part of the show.
“It's always great to hear music I haven't heard before and everything I heard tonight was new, so that was great to hear,” said Mr. Armour. “And I loved the traditional instruments, the traditional flute, the erhu. I loved the traditional Chinese instruments, they were so beautiful.”
