NEW YORK—The highly acclaimed Divine Performing Arts New Year Spectacular final show at Radio City Music Hall on January 30, was a combination of two companies, the New York Company and International Company. After thunderous applause, the audience left the theater with joyful hearts, a smile and deep respect for Chinese culture, timing nicely with the start of the auspicious Chinese New Year of the Ox.
Divine Performing Arts is not only a first-class international performing group, but also brings with it an array of costumes that stun both the Eastern and Western fashion industries.
Ms. Dai, a designer from Manhattan, was totally enchanted by the Chinese New Year Spectacular. She said everything was perfect, the dancing, the singing, the music, and the costumes.
She thought the workmanship of the costumes in the show was superb, the color combinations outstanding, the colors bright, vibrant, harmonious and seemingly transparent.
"The designs and decorations of the costumes are elaborate and refined, graceful and stylish. A feast for the eyes," said Ms. Dai. "They are so delicate and unique that we have never seen anything like it. This is a new experience for people in this field, not to mention the colors and their combinations. I believe that we have never seen colors like these. They exist only in Heaven.”
Clothing contains people's spirit, the way people live and moral standards, she enthused. "Clothing also embraces unique qualities from Chinese culture and religious belief."
According to Ms. Dai, the costumes interrelated with the programs and their titles so well, they "heighten the performer's grace, modesty, dignity and elegance."
"It's absolutely wonderful! I have never seen anything quite like it. These costumes exist only in heaven! I feel like I were in fantasy land. These beautiful costumes inspire me and help to elevate my aesthetic senses.”
