On October 7 the well-known Chinese dissident Jinbo Wang announced his official withdrawal from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) organizations, the CCP Youth League and the CCP Young Pioneers Team.

Wang said that The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party (The Nine Commentaries) is the first widely spread book in China that systematically reveals the evil nature of the CCP. It is easy to read and it has played a large role in the movement to resign from the CCP.

In an earlier interview with The Epoch Times on May 31, 2005 Wang spoke of his four-year imprisonment that ended on May 23. While imprisoned he was severely tortured and went on a hunger strike in protest. He said that his fellow inmates were also treated poorly, among them Falun Gong practitioners.

The followings are the summary of the interview:

Wang Publicly Announces His Withdrawal from the CCP Youth League and the CCP Young Pioneers Team

“I joined the Young Pioneers Team out of innocence and ignorance, and I had to join the Youth League in order to take my college entrance exam. I wore the red scarf when I was a member of the Young Pioneers Team and I become a Communist Youth League cadre later on. Although I am over the age and have ceased to be an official member of the Youth League, I want to officially declare my renunciation and thoroughly eliminate the poisons of Communist thought and ideology.”

“I believe that the wave of CCP renunciations will continue in China. In the future we need to thoroughly expose the massive crimes Communism has committed against the Chinese people.”

The Importance of a Public Announcement

“The main reason to give a public declaration is to have a thorough and clean break from the CCP and clear out the impact of the CCP’s ideology. It can also encourage others.

“The CCP is near its end and it could disappear on any day. A sudden and explosive event could disintegrate it. The collapse of the Communist Party always occurs suddenly and unpredictably, such as the Romania’s Communist Party.

The CCP Loses Ideological Control

“The CCP has recently started a campaign to ”maintain the advancement nature of the CCP.” A lot of people I know don’t take this seriously. They simply make fun of it, saying that to give everyone a fridge would serve the purpose. [1]

“Why did the CCP start this campaign? At present no one believes that the CCP represents any kind of ”advancement.“ This phrase is misleading and is far from the truth. Everyone, from upper level officials to ordinary citizens, knows that it is a lie.”

Withdrawal from the CCP is Essential to China’s Transition to Democracy

“Withdrawal from the CCP is essential for a country to transition from communism to democracy. Former Eastern European Communist countries also went through this stage in their political transitions.”

“During the later half of 1989 when the Hungarian Socialist Workers’ Party transitioned to the Hungarian Socialist Party, it lost many people in its re-registration process. After re-registration, very few original members were left.”

“More and more Communist Party members will definitely break away from its control.”

“The movement to withdraw from the CCP is an essential component of China’s peaceful transition.”

About Wang Jinbo

Wang Jinbo was born in 1972 and lives in Junan city, Shangdong province. In 1989 when he studied in Junan No. 1 Middle School, he wrote a letter using an alias to support the students on hunger strike on Tiananmen Square who were asking for democracy and freedom. He also donated 10 yuan. In 1998 he helped organize the China Democratic Party.

In May 2001 he was detained in name of “stirring up to overthrow the country’s regime” by the Public Security Bureau of Linqi city, Shandong province. In June 2001, he was again arrested for the same charge. In December 2001, he was sentenced to four-year imprisonment and two-year deprivation of political rights by Liqi City Middle Court. He served the sentence in the Shangdong Province Prison. During his four-year imprisonment, Wang Jinbo went on hunger strikes 15 times for a total of 200 days. He was released from prison in May 2005.

Notes:

1. The campaign to “maintain the advancement nature of the CCP” is aiming at improving the CCP’s image as the CCP is facing serious ideological crisis and corruption issues. The pronunciation of the movement “Bao Xian” also means in Chinese to “keep the food fresh.” Therefore many people make a joke that in order to “Bao Xian”, the CCP needs to give everyone a fridge.
