An ancient belief holds that it’s all predestined whom we would meet in our lives, at what time, and at which place—and when the drama of life unfolds itself, we are often awestruck by its magical developments! Just like this beautiful love story.

Meet Aviyah and Yonaton. They have known each other since they were in nappies. Their moms were buddies and even got pregnant at approximately the same time. They, however, hadn’t the slightest clue that 20 years into the future, their friendship would turn to kinship.

Aviyah and Yonaton even went to the same school. “We were partners for kindergarten graduation. We practiced our part over and over—some rhyme about brushing our teeth,” Aviyah told INSIDER.

She said that she had a crush on him since fifth grade when they started carpooling to get to school. By sixth grade, her feelings were reciprocated by Yonaton, who would leave notes for her on her locker. By seventh grade, they acknowledged their feelings for each other and have been together ever since.

In 2013, the inevitable happened. Yonaton asked Aviyah to marry him. Aviyah said that she nearly blacked out when she was taken by him to a nearby ground where she saw a streamer with the words in Hebrew, “Aviyah, Will you marry me?” suspended at a distance.

They were married in nine months and now have a son named Elyashiv.

According to Aviyah, knowing Yonaton for her whole life has actually been a bonus point. “We joke around about so many old memories since we share so many, and of course we make fun of each other as well. I also love the fact that Yonaton knows where I’m coming from. He knows my parents, my family, my friends, my background—and that makes a huge difference in understanding who I am as a person,” she said.

She feels, however, that they still have a lot to learn about each other. “What’s crazy is that even though I’ve known Yonaton for basically all my life, I find that we are still learning new things about each other—and I really like that.”

“We’re both new at this, and we make our mistakes, and are learning new things each and every day. There’s [sic] been some pressuring times, but I think our common goal of wanting the absolute best for our baby is what gets us through it as a team,” said Aviyah.

The secret to their relationship is: Never go to bed mad. “If you have this rule, then you will be forced to talk things out, to communicate—and not just ignore or give the cold shoulder, which is so much easier to do,” Aviyah said. “Things come up, there are challenges—but you are a team, and you need to be able to communicate all that you are going through, all that’s on your mind.”

Though Aviyah and Yonaton have known each other for years, they still believe that communicating with each other is the foundation of their relationship. In other words, successful relationships are a result of mature collaboration and co-operation. No matter how well one feels that one knows a person, it can never predict understanding in a relationship.
