British actor Colin Firth, 50, is catching the attention of critics and fans alike for his latest role in The King’s Speech due out in theaters November 26. Most recently, the film has won the Cadillac People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In the story, Firth plays King George VI, who works hard to improve his stuttering speech while gearing up his country for battle during World War II. Helena Bonham Carter portrays Queen Elizabeth. Firth first won our hearts as the dashing Mr. Darcy in the public television miniseries rendition of Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice. Fans of the miniseries will be happy to know that actress Jennifer Ehle, who starred as Elizabeth Bennett, will also appear in this film.
