Massive Blast, Fire Reported at China Chemical Plant in Zhangzhou

A massive explosion and fire was reported at a paraxylene plant in Fujian Province, China.

According to state-run CCTV, the blast was reported on Monday evening local time in the city of Zhangzhou.

Photos of the explosion and fire were uploaded on Twitter.

Paraxylene, known as p-Xylene, is a somewhat toxic hydrocarbon that is used in polyester manufacturing.
