Child Finds 5 People Shot Dead Inside a Delaware Home

A 5-year-old boy walked into a house in Prices Corner, Delaware, and saw a truly horrible sight: five bodies killed by gunshot.

According to a Delaware State Police press release, troopers responded to a call on the 2700 block of Ferris Road at 7:53 p.m. on Monday, July 9.

The troopers entered the residence and, on the second floor, found the five gunshot victims: a 42-year-old male, a 41-year-old female and three children under the age of 8.

The child who found the bodies was supposed to spend the night at the home. He was dropped off around 7:30, neighbors said.

One neighbor, Alisha Garvin, told CBS News, “A neighbor said she watched him get out of a red truck, go inside the house and then rush right back out, so apparently he had to have found them ’cause no one else was around.”

Another neighbor described the scene to CBS reporter Matt Petrillo, saying, “I’m kind of in shock and I really don’t believe it—just really stunned. It kind of felt like something you see on TV, like ‘Law and Order,’ or a movie, even. It just doesn’t seem real.”

The Delaware Division of Forensic Science is autopsying the bodies to determine precise causes of death and to look for more evidence.

The names of the victims have not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit, which is handling the investigating, is asking for anyone with any information to call 302-365-8441.
