Charles Barkley argued on Thursday night after the All-Star reserves were announced that Dwyane Wade should not have been among them, provoking a reaction from Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union.

Barkley said that Wade and several others were merely voted in for what they’ve done in past years, and that players who are doing well this season--such as Brandon Knight of the Milwaukee Bucks--should have made it instead.

“Dwyane’s great, he’s a Hall of Famer,” said Barkley during the TNT broadcast. “But he didn’t deserve to make the All-Star team.”

Barkley said that Wade “is not having an All-Star year,” with the Miami Heat (20-25) struggling even to stay in the top eight in the Eastern Conference, although he said teammate Chris Bosh deserved his spot. To make matters worse, the Knight-led Bucks beat the Heat this week.

“This might be the only time Brandon Knight, Brandon Jennings can make the All-Star team,” Barkley said. Kyle Korver was also snubbed.

However, Union decided to rip Barkley after hearing his comments.

“Forgive Charles. .. Kenny Smith is a 2x champion & his opinion is most sound,” she said. “It’s like me talkin bout Meryl Streep but I ain’t won nuthin.”

Barkley was informed of the comments and hit back. “First off, never mention you and Meryl Streep in the same sentence again,” he said. “She'd never be on Snakes on a Plane or Madea.”

Barkley did say that Union is “very pretty.”

Kenny told Barkley that he was out or order, and Shaq applauded Union for her comments.
