To celebrate Star Wars Day, a video retelling “Episode VII” using only emojis was released by Disney on May 2.
The clever three-minute video was released prior to the unofficial holiday, May The Fourth Be With You, drawing off from the classic Star Wars phrase “May the Force be with you.”
The clip is part of Disney’s “As told by emoji” series, where producers recreate classics, like “Aladdin” and “Frozen,” using only animated emojis.
The video retells J.J. Abrams’ entire two-hour-plus film in just over 3 minutes, with featured emoji-fied versions of Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Poe, Chewbacca, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and other Star Wars characters.
Meanwhile, Star Wars fans took over social media platforms to celebrate the sci-fi movie franchise.
The hashtag #MayThe4thBeWithYou had almost 600,000 tweets by the afternoon, while #StarWarsDay had over 270,000 posts on Twitter.
Social media users used the Star Wars craze to upload pictures of almost everything related to the films, including food and Guinness World Records.
