Canelo Alvarez could face Miguel Cotto soon after Cotto turned an offer down to face the fighter this year.

Cotto told reporters recently that he had a real offer to face Alvarez but that he chose instead to face Sergio Martinez.

Cotto said that he'd consider fighting Alvarez if another offer come through after his fight.

Cotto and Alvarez have “been sort of dancing around a possible fight for a couple of years now,” reported Bad Left Hook, including rumors about a fight in 2012.

Cotto opted for the bout against Martinez on Jun 7--an HBO pay-per-view--as he tries to add the world title at 160 pounds to his belts at 140, 14, and 154.

If Cotto beats Martinez, a logical next fight would be against Canelo for the crown.

Alvarez is coming off a 10th round TKO win against Alfredo Angulo.

He lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. last fall.
