Business Owner Says Shen Yun ‘Work of a Specialist’

PERTH, Australia—Keith Edson and his wife own the largest office furniture business in Perth, so an evening at The Regal Theatre with Shen Yun Performing Arts was a welcome experience.

“It was absolutely lovely,” Mr. Edson said. “It went very, very well. When is the show coming back? You will send me an invitation won’t you?”

Mrs. Edson was of like mind. “I'd say it was tops. It was excellent.”

She found the effects of the digital backdrops particularly intriguing.

“I thought the way the effects that they have behind them and how they ... somebody would leave the stage and ... I just thought that was wonderful. I’ve never seen effects like that before and we go to quite a few shows. I haven’t seen that to that degree. It was very good.”

Many onlookers have commented on these digital backdrop designs which complement and synchronize all aspects of the performance, the company website says. “The characters, colour of the costumes, specific dance movements, props, lighting, the story being told, particular notes played by the orchestra, and special audio effects” are integrated to perfectly match the performance on stage, the backdrop screen and orchestral music.

Based out of New York, the classical dance company’s mission is to use performing arts to revive the essence of Chinese culture—traditionally considered a divinely-inspired culture, the Shen Yun website says.

“Specialist work,” Mr. Edson said. His wife replied: “It would be.”

“Very high quality. I would recommend it. I think it was absolutely excellent and well worth seeing,” Mr. Edson said. “Very happy we came.”

Mrs. Edson agreed. “It’s a new experience I think a lot of people here would not have experienced. Thank you for coming to Perth. Not every show comes to Perth and it’s lovely that you did.”
