COSTA MESA, Calif.—Lynn Connolly, owner of Emerald Wealth Management, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts’ Wednesday night show at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, March 12.
“I loved it,” said Ms. Connoly. “It was just so entertaining—the music, the dancing, the colors—I just really, truly enjoyed it.”
Established in 2006, New York-based Shen Yun is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing 5,000 years of Chinese civilization to life through the performing arts. Having reached millions of people across some 20 countries and 100 cities, Shen Yun is widely recognized as a global phenomenon.
One of Ms. Connolly’s favorite aspects of the show was the dancing.
“Amazing, always in sync,” she said of the professional dancers. “Perfection, just perfection.”
According to the Shen Yun website, “Shen Yun and its mission have drawn top talent from around the world; many artists are winners of international competitions in dance, choreography, and music.”
Some of the other highlights for Ms. Connolly were the live orchestra and costumes.
The orchestra, as she explained, was “amazing … just sensational,” and the costumes were “very colorful, bright, [and] inspirational.”
As the website states, “Shen Yun’s costume artists collect countless designs of traditional attire, ranging from those of emperors, ministers, and generals to the everyday clothing of the common people. They use bright colors to tailor and recreate hundreds of new pieces each season. Every detail is given meticulous attention and is a result of artistic inspiration and careful polishing.”
“Definitely come here and see it for sure,” was Ms. Connolly’s parting message to future audience members. For her, seeing Shen Yun in person is “absolutely” a must.
Ms. Connolly also left a heartfelt message to the Shen Yun performers after seeing the show.
“Keep doing what you’re doing,” she said. “I was so thankful to be here tonight, and I’m so thankful that I came.”
