NEW YORK—As Father John Youne, from Our Lady of Lebanon Cathedral, in Brooklyn, N.Y., watched the Divine Performing Arts show, his thoughts took him to his native land of Lebanon and the current violence in the Middle East. The contrast was striking to him: “Look at these performers, the way they move—so peaceful and no violence—I like it so much. They are showing something very important: how to be peaceful, and the way they dance.”
He had caught sight of a flyer about the show the day before and instantly decided he needed to see the performance. “It was lovely,” he said. “Wonderful, especially when they were focusing about the truth—I like it so much—and about compassion, and how earth really needs compassion.
“I really like it so much and how these people appreciate their tradition and their values, and they are keeping it and sharing it with everyone—not only for the Chinese people but also for us.”
Father John, who said he found the performance “wonderful,” said he liked “especially the song about how to wait for heaven to come to earth, and that hope is coming to earth."
