A British Airways jet landed with a square tire, baffling many.

A photo of the Airbus A380, which touched down in London’s Heathrow Airport last week, has left aviation experts baffled and curious. The plane came in from Hong Kong, reported MailOnline.

According to CNN, the plane set off with “22 round wheels” but only landed with 21.

The pilot of the plane said he wasn’t sure how it happened, and meanwhile, an expert from the Royal Aeronautical Society said the tire was “a bit mysterious.”

The plane landed safely and taxied to the gate, the Aviation Herald reported. It added, “The original of the photo does not exhibit any indication of photoshopping.”

“The photo appears genuine, but I’m unsure how such a thing would happen, exactly,” author and pilot Patrick Smith told MailOnline. “The tyre deflated and the subsequent rotation caused it to fold in on itself in four symmetrical segments.”

A Civil Aviation Authority spokesman told the paper: “It is a curious one. Not seen anything like it before.”

Some people suggested that the high altitude may have been the cause of its strange collapse, according to GetWestLondon.
