Boston Bombers basketball team will change name after the Boston Marathon bombings, a team official confirmed on April 24.

Boston’s first semi-pro women’s basketball team will change its name from the Boston Bombers after the bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon about a week and a half ago.

“We [were] planning on changing it once the Boston incident happened,” a team spokesperson told the Daily Mail via email.

A team spokesperson told Gawker via email that team fans were not happy with the name.

The team’s new name? Boston Bulldogs.

The previous name was accompanied by a logo of a bomb with a fuse.

The Boston Bulldogs are part of the Women’s Blue-Chip Basketball League, a semi-professional league for women 20 or older. “The competition level ranges from former college players to former NWBL and WNBA players and current international players,” according to the league’s website.
