VANCOUVER, British Columbia—On Shen Yun Performing Arts’ opening night at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Prefontaine and their two daughters were among the appreciative audience members.

“We definitely enjoyed it. I think the girls, they love to dance, so they got to see all the skills required for being on stage,” said Mrs. Prefontaine, an actress and a former national classical ballerina in Mexico.

“I loved the choreography, and the costumes were beautiful—very nice use of every piece of it. The ladies looked beautiful with their technique, and I loved their live music. It was very nice. It was a very nice touch to it.”

She said that all the programs were beautiful but she particularly enjoyed Flowing Sleeves with the yellow long sleeves and The Mystical Phoenix where “the hands and the whole body” were representing the phoenix.

“Visually it was very lovely to see all the work of their arms. They looked very well-rehearsed, as well as how their bodies extended to the costumes. The costumes were eimploed very well with the music and the choreography. All of them looked very good together,” she said.

Mr. Prefontaine, who is in business development in the Asia Pacific region for Rogers, said that the programs were “all good, very enjoyable—beautiful dancers, beautiful dance.” He liked how the images on the 3-D backdrops came alive on the stage.

The girls said that they loved every part of the show.

After completeing its seven-show run in Vancouver, Shen Yun will continue on to Calgary, Edmonton, and Regina.
