A baby gorilla playfully teases his dad by bouncing around in their enclosure at the Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire, England.

Lope, a 3-year-old young silverback gorilla, appears intent on winding up his dad, Oumbi, through the playful display. Lope can be seen twirling around, falling, pounding hit fists on neighboring walls, sliding head-first down hills, and peaking his head around corners—all to capture his dad’s attention. Despite the display, dad Oumbia appears disinterested and unwilling to give his son’s ruckus any attention.

The video of the playful display was first captured by a woman visiting the Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire, England in 2016. The original 3-minute long Facebook video went viral, warming the hearts of millions of viewers who had the chance to witness the interaction between father and son.

Simon Childs, the zoo’s great ape team leader, spoke out on the video, saying, “The video shows our youngest gorilla, Lope, as he is playing. He celebrated his 3rd birthday in January 2016, and play is a very important aspect of behavior for young apes, both in zoos and the wild. Visitors to Twycross Zoo can see Lope playing like this very often. When in a playful mood, adult gorillas can be seen showing this behavior too.”

Lope has a lot of fun throughout the video, and the video is sure to bring a laugh and smile to the face of any viewer. Watch the video in full to see the heartwarming interaction between father and son silverback gorillas for yourself.
