During the seventies and eighties, Thelma Stiles worked for private firms in northern California, writing training programs and editing engineering specifications and classified documents. While working for the Feds during the nineties, she edited engineering specifications, developed user manuals, and wrote instructional television scripts about the P-3 Orion. She’s also contributed personal essays and short stories to several publications, including Essence magazine, Italian America magazine, and Travelers’ Tales. A widow and former granny-nanny, she moved from Napa to the Los Angeles area in 2015, to live near Sophia and Vanessa, her two young granddaughters.
