Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 will feature lots of action after the stunning season finale.

For those who don’t remember, season 1 ended with Agent Coulson taking out John Garrett; Fitz and Simmons rescued from the middle of the ocean; May arresting Ward; and the first glimpse of Skye’s father, who apparently has been working with Raina.

According to TVGuide, Director Coulson will turn to some new faces for help in rebuilding S.H.I.E.L.D., including S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Isabel Hartley (Lucy Lawless) and assassin Lance Hunter (Nick Blood.

And Hydra is still alive, with Daniel Whitehall aka Kraken (Reed Diamond) taking over the organization.

S.H.I.E.L.D. will also be facing trouble outside of Hydra.

“As director, [Coulson will] be faced with some tough decisions, harder decisions than he had to make as an agent,” executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen said.

“We‘ll see the emotional consequences of that and we’ll see the shifts in dynamics between the characters because of that.”

Clark Gregg (Coulson) previously said that season 2 will be “lo-fi,” and “going back to the basics.”

“You’ve got to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. from the ground up in a much more dangerous world where your group is outlawed. So it feels like the early, Sean Connery James Bond with the brass knuckles and not afraid to knock somebody off,” he said.

Season 2 of the Marvel show will premiere on Tuesday, September 23 at 9 p.m. EDT.
