Virgin Galactic hopes to launch its first space flight into Earth’s sub-orbital space and with it a new industry in commercial space travel.
Interviewer: “Virgin Galactic’s first space flight has been years in the making with several delays. When will the first flight take place?”
Sir Richard Branson: “Well I’ve said this before, I’m going to say it again, and hopefully this time I get it right. I’m a great believer in Father Christmas and I expect Virgin Galactic will be in space before Christmas. My team said, ‘do not say anything like that,’ but I believe that will be the case.”
Interviewer: “Very exciting. That'll be a lovely Christmas present if it does happen this Christmas.”
Branson: “Hopefully it‘ll be an early Christmas present. But we’ll see how it goes.”
