30 lb. of pot unknowingly smuggled: A woman possibly unknowingly smuggled 30 pounds of pot across the U.S.-Mexico border recently, according to reports on Monday.

NBC San Diego reported that narcotics officers are currently investigating the incident. The Mexican woman, 33, works downtown in San Diego and crossed the border on Friday at 3 a.m.

When she got to work an hour later, two males approached her vehicle and removed items from beneath it.

The woman reportedly scared the men, who ran back into their car and hastily left.

Police officers found that six packages were placed under the car’s undercarriage. They contained more than 30 pounds of marijuana

Police have not determined who strapped the marijuana to the bottom of the woman’s car. No arrests were made.

In 2012, CNN reported that drug smugglers have used so-called “blind drug mules” to get packages across the border. The network told a story involving a man who commuted from Juarez, Mexico to El Paso, Texas.

The man said that he was targeted by cartels to ferry drugs across the border and ultimately got six months in prison.
