When an awesome, 29-piece dance crew from Mumbai, India, flooded the stage of America’s Got Talent, they brought the house down. But that’s not all; they also paid tribute to a fallen friend.

Every member of “V. Unbeatable” wore the name “Vikas” on their uniform; that was the judges’ first signal that there was a motive behind the dancers’ fierce determination. According to India Today, the “V” in V. Unbeatable also stands for Vikas; the troupe’s name is a solemn pledge that their 30th member will never be forgotten.

“Six years ago we were doing rehearsals,” the dancers’ spokesperson shared ahead of their performance on July 23, 2019, which was later shared on YouTube. “Suddenly, the incident happened.”

“[Vikas] fell down and his body was paralyzed.”

The injured dancer passed away a few short weeks later, his dreams shattered and his friends forever changed by their loss. “We are doing all of this for him,” the group exclaimed, before launching into a breathtaking performance.

Upbeat Indian music set the scene as the group launched into a wild, complicated routine. Combining awesome dance moves and highly skilled acrobatics, the group, quite literally, brought shocked audience members to their feet and their jaws to the floor.

Dancers aged between 12 and 27, according to India West, jumped over one another, launched through the air, and even over stacks of chairs and tables to a soundtrack of “Tattad Tattad” from the epic Bollywood romance Bajirao Mastani. The whoops, cheers, and applause grew louder with every epic stunt.

For the crew’s grand finale, a dancer was thrown clean over the judges’ table, and one of the smallest acrobats was hurled expertly onto the seat of a chair held way above the other dancers’ heads.

It was nothing short of incredible.

“Wow!” judge Julianne Hough shouted several times over, before fellow judge Dwayne Wade, Gabrielle Union’s husband, took his turn. “My heart is beating at a rapid pace that I haven’t felt before,” the former NBA star admitted, even holding his wife’s hand over his chest to prove it.

“I know the practice time it takes,” he continued, empathizing with the amazingly hardworking troupe of 29. “I know the sacrifice it takes. I had this saying whenever I hit a big shot,” he added, “whenever it was one of those moments, I jumped up on the stand and said, ‘This is my house.’”

“Today, on this stage,” Wade shared, speaking directly to the anticipant group, “this is y’all house.” Then, he pressed the coveted golden buzzer! Confetti rained, and a whirlwind of excitement, jumping, hugs, and high fives filled the stage.

V. Unbeatable is headed for the live shows in Hollywood. “We want to thank all the lovely people for believing in us and supporting us,” the group later posted on their Facebook page. “We still can’t believe that it happened […] from slums to the stage of dreams!”

Howie Mandel took to Twitter to register his own amazement. “I am absolutely shocked,” he wrote. “In my ten years on #AGT I haven’t seen anything this precise, athletic, and dangerous done by a group of young people. Well done and congratulations on the golden buzzer.”
