BMW’s X6 is capable of delivering 335 horsepower and 330 lb.-ft. of torque. The 3.0-liter inline-six TwinPower Turbo engine with Double VANOS variable valve timing control and Valvetronics variable valve lift system, pushes power through an 8-speed automatic transmission with sport and manual modes.

The power-assisted steering wheel with paddle shifters, Dynamic Performance Control auto torque-vectoring system, plus various driving modes ensure optimal safety and performance.

Fuel economy is rated at 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway for a combined 22 mpg, or about 4.5 gallons per 100-miles.

This BMW’s excellent handling is a product of the xDrive all-wheel drive system added to the above mentioned Dynamic Performance Control system. Together they govern how power is intelligently distributed to all four wheels.

Throttle response is amazing, and accompanied by a powerful roar. Don’t worry, the brakes can stop you on a dime. Make that a thin dime. Suspension is refined, giving a gliding feeling even over uneven surfaces.

Outside, the BMX X6 body is covered in Mineral Grey Metallic paint ($550) and rests on 20-inch aluminum wheels. Signature Kidney Grille and LED lighting ensemble add to the exterior styling.

The Comfort Access keyless entry helps you get inside quickly. There you are greeted by breathtaking Coffee Vernasca Leather interior. Heated sporty seats with lumbar support add comfort to the drive. While ambient lighting adds a glow to the luxury inside, the Panoramic Moonroof helps to bring the outside, inside.

A Park Assist Package ($800) adds Park Assistant Plus, Active Park Distance Control, Drive Recorder, and Surround View with 3D View.

Standard connectivity supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. BMW ConnectedDrive offers various useful data services in a number of packages; such services include Advanced Real Time Traffic Information, On Street Parking Information, and Concierge Services.

I would recommend the Harman Kardon Surround Sound, an option offered for an additional $875.

Things I liked about the exterior of the X6 include the sloping roofline and the subtle duck tail rear end which give the vehicle a sportier look. But it was the comfort and luxury I liked best. Definitely a step above its peers.
