House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) attempt to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas for the failure in dealing with the border crisis would not likely succeed, according to an immigration expert.
As such, even if Mayorkas were to resign, step down, or get impeached, it might not resolve the border issue. Mayorkas would get replaced by “Mayorkas 2.0 or a sequel” who might be even worse.
“If the president is perfectly fine with having a wide open border where everybody and anybody who comes near it gets across and into the interior legally with no threat whatsoever of deportation … what’s the point?”
Border Immigration
Bensman talked about spending a lot of time at the border and interviewing many immigrants. In the majority of interviews, the immigrants told him that they were coming to America because of the accommodative policies of the administration.“They’re opening the door, they’re letting them in, they’re bringing them in on parole, they’re giving them work permits, they’re being really lavishly rewarded for their illegal entry and paying cartel smuggling fees to get in,” he said.
Bensman blamed Mayorkas’s policies for being responsible for what is happening at the U.S. border, which he calls the “greatest mass migration crisis in American history.”
The expert added that he understands why the GOP is frustrated regarding the issue and pressing the DHS secretary on the matter.
“We need to say that we’re not going to give blank checks to this government unless we actually say that we’re going to turn away and detain, as the current law requires,” he said.
“But unless our leadership demands that, we won’t get any change. You can have all the hearings you want, you can impeach Mayorkas.”
